Burke is surrounded by other towns with rich offerings, including Lorton, Fairfax, and Springfield. The quiet town is part of Fairfax County and incudes the award-winning Burke Centre Conservancy, a beautiful 1700 acre Planned Residential community that includes over 6000 homes, townhouses and condos, with amenities galore.

Burke is perfect for those craving natural scenery and exercise. The Burke VRE Trailhead sits within Pohick Stream Valley Park, just parallel with the Amtrak railway. The trail is 1.4 miles and gives visitors paved trails for biking, running, and walking. Lake Braddock Park is another excellent choice for sports fields and pavilions. We can’t go without discussing Burke Lake Park, technically just outside of the Burke limits but sharing a name. The park is home to 888 acres of fun. Boat rentals, golf, biking, camping, fishing, and even a carousel and train can be found in this gem!

The town is more than just its natural wonders. Residents can stroll the Burke Farmers Market on Saturdays, an event home to nearly 30 local vendors. For more weekend fun, locals can check out Bowl America and Burke Lake Mini-Golf. Plus, surrounding areas like Fairfax, Washington D.C., and Springfield give plenty of options just a short drive away. Looking for focused workout time? Burke hosts Halo Fitness, Olympus Fitness, and OneLife. Additionally, residents will find a My Gym in town, perfect for kids’ birthday parties, mommy and me classes, and day camps.

Transportation

There are two VRE (Virginia Railway Express) stations conveniently located in Burke.  Easy access to commuter buses, free commuter parking lots and slug-lines to DC.  What are sluglines?  It’s a form of carpooling that has been around since the 1960’s that provides drivers and commuters the opportunity to connect and commute to DC or the Pentagon using the HOV-3 lanes.
